Travel from one end of the department to the other for a standard fare of 2€ is now possible with the new inter-city Transperigord routes! No need to take the car or look for a parking place – the bus will take the strain. Not just confined to cities, the service will include many of the usual market towns and villages in their routes.
The Conseil General has reorganised the 10 main bus routes to implement this modest fare on its most frequently used lines, the most direct routes and specific services. For example, you can now travel from Perigueux to Angouleme direct to coincide with the TGV service to Paris!
This intelligently planned new service intends to show that even in a huge department with a disparate population, the public transport system can be a real alternative to the private car. With the ever increasing price of petrol this merits serious thought – and you can contribute towards a greener environment too!
